TUSTIN, CA - Medea Corporation, the maker of ATA-based RAID storage solutions for content creation and delivery applications, has announced the compatibility of its VideoRaid FCR2 and FCR2X Fibre Channel RAID storage arrays with AJA Video Systems' Kona 2 dual rate HD/SD capture card. The Kona 2 supports uncompressed 8- and 10-bit SDI, HD-SDI, and dual link 4:4:4 HD at both 10- and 12-bits. Kona 2 also features 8-channel AES audio, HD/SD component analog video output, and broadcast quality HD/SD hardware up/down-conversion.

Medea's VideoRaid FCR2 and FCR2X are the latest Fibre Channel arrays optimized for high bandwidth applications, including HD video editing with the FCR2X. The VideoRaid FCR2 is equipped with a single channel, 2-Gbit Fibre Channel interface and provides a sustained data transfer rate of 180 MB/sec., while the FCR2X comes with dual 2-Gbit Fibre Channel interfaces that can deliver a sustained data transfer rate of 320 MB/sec. - sufficient to meet the demands of all formats of HD.

Multiple VideoRaid FCR2 or FCR2X arrays can be scaled to capacities exceeding 120TB - nearly 1,600 hours of uncompressed standard definition video content. These features make the Medea Fibre Channel arrays suitable for video pros using AJA's Kona 2 capture card.
