RED GIANT SOFTWARE SHOWING LOW-COST DESKTOP APPLICATIONS

LAS VEGAS - Desktop software publisher Red Giant Software (www.redgiantsoftware.com), based in San Francisco, is showing three new tools at this year's NAB: Knoll Light Factory 3.0, Primatte Keyer 3.0, and Key Correct Pro 1.0.

Knoll Light Factory 3.0 ($395) delivers new levels of performance and variety for customers. The new Knoll Light Factory rendering engine uses the GPU to increase the speed of rendering for HD projects while maintaining quality. Users can expect up to a 3.5x performance increase and greater speed enhancements on high-end graphic cards.

New capabilities include the ability to apply any of the 30 new flare presets, as well as the ability to take advantage of support for graphic card-centric applications such as Apple Motion.

Primatte Keyer 3.0 ($695) is published under exclusive agreement with Photron USA, and is a chroma keying software that enables artists to extract keys from any color background. This new version addresses two common challenges: DV material and post key complications such as uneven lighting, subtle shadows and edge light contamination (spill). A new feature - Key Correct - rounds out the toolkit and helps users overcome these workflow changes before the compositing stage.

And Key Correct Pro 1.0 ($395) is also being shown at NAB. The compositing tool is designed for users seeking the highest quality composites. This new set of 17 plug-ins lets users correct alpha channel, create smooth outlines, and color match any two layers. Key Correct Pro will initially be available for After Effects 6.0.
