MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE VIDEO TAKES 'COLORIST' HONORS

The non-profit trade organization serves to address the concerns of the music video industry and is made up of production and post production professionals.

The video is from the band’s “Black Parade” album and was directed by Samuel Bayer, who also did Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, Green Day’s American Idiot and Justin Timberlake’s What Goes Around. Leon has worked with Bayer in the past, including on the Green Day project.

“On Welcome to the Black Parade, we felt that we got exactly what we wanted: the rich, but muted feel of an old film print, which was perfect for the song and its art direction” Leon explains. He worked with film negative, but treated it as a print in the telecine, reversing the polarity for softened highlights and enhanced grain and texture.
