AUTODESK LAUNCHES LUSTRE 2010, SHOWS EXTENSION 1 UPDATES

Lustre 2010 gives artists greater control over final color and lighting effects for both stereoscopic and standard television and film projects. The tool is available in a standalone turnkey configuration, as well as in a software-only companion product that can be installed on the same platform as Smoke and Flame.

A new degrain tool eliminates the need for an external degraining solution. The new release has four times more secondary grading power than Lustre 2009, with 48 layers and unlimited shapes per layer. Lustre 2010 now features improved interoperability with Flame and Smoke, with bidirectional multilayer timeline exchange and cross-product codec compatibility. Support has also been added for MXF with Avid DNxHD import. And, Red workflows have been enhanced with the addition of RSX file support, the ability to copy transcode settings from shot to shot, and support for realtime 2K streaming of 4K R3D files.

The 2010 Extension 1 Releases have a focus on improved interoperability. A new substance tool has been added to Flame, Inferno and Flare. Approximately 90 new 3D text presets have been added to Flame, Inferno, Flare, Flint and Smoke. Flame, Inferno, Flare and Flint also receive nearly 50 new 3D particle presets. An audio tracker has been added to Flame, Inferno, Flare, Flint and Smoke. And Flint and Smoke feature a new auto-stabilization tool.

On the workflow side, Flame, Inferno, Flare, Flint and Smoke now have support for MXF with Avid DNxHD (import). Support for Sony XDCAM EX (import) has been added. There is now cross-product codec compatibility. And Red workflows have been enhanced with the addition of RSX file support and a user-definable transcoding range.
