NEC DEBUTS NEW 2K D-CINEMA PROJECTORS

The new models meet the Digital Cinema Initiatives’ requirements, and can be configured with optional NEC internal MediaBlock and discreet NEC Local Storage Server to provide a complete solution for showing digital movies.

The new projectors include the NC1200C at 9,000 lumens of brightness, for screen sizes of up to 46-feet wide; the NC2000C (shown) at 17,000 lumens for screens up to 65 feet wide; and the NC3200S at 31,000 lumens for screens up to 105 feet wide. The advanced DLP Cinema light engine provides contrast ratios up to 2200:1.

All three models will be available in early 2010 and are engineered for long-term use, with simplified lamp and parts replacement. The projectors include new Texas Instruments Series 2 electronics and are designed for easy maintenance to minimize downtime. This includes a design that allows for the quicker replacement of parts.

Pricing for the new models will be in the low- to mid-$50,000 range. The NC1200C is suitable for studios with smaller rooms set up for digital dailies work.
