Super Bowl: The Mission creates VFX for Chevy

VENICE, CA — VFX executive producer Michael Pardee recently launched The Mission (www.themissionstudio.com), here. He was previously head of Asylum’s commercial division. Pardee is joined at The Mission by former Asylum colleagues Rob Trent, who will serve as creative director/VFX supervisor, and animation director Piotr Karwas.

The new post production, VFX and animation house made its commercial debut during Super Bowl XLV with a :30 Chevy spot. Tommy was conceived by agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and was directed by Speck/Gordon of Furlined. The commercial features a brazen father who uses his Chevy Silverado HD to courageously save his accident-prone son from situations such as falling down a well, being stranded in a hot air balloon, and being stuck in the belly of a whale. The Mission produced the commercial’s CG whale sequence.
