Vitec Group hosting 'expert sessions'

LAS VEGAS — The Vitec Group plc (www.vitecgroup.com) is hosting a dedicated live event area at NAB to share its knowledge and expertise on broadcast and film products, technology and techniques. Representatives from Vitec Group brands will be joined by independent industry experts to host a range of informative sessions.

The live event area will include eight daily 30-minute sessions covering topics such as: how to transform studio lighting, HDSLR cameras and batteries. Specialists from brands such as Anton Bauer, Litepanels, Manfrotto, Microwave Service Company, Nucomm, OConnor, RF Central, Sachtler and Vinten will lead the sessions.

Each day a “Meet the Experts” session will feature a headliner, who will detail their personal experiences. Speakers will include director/Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, Vincent Laforet, who will talk about his “journey from stills to cinematography.” Laforet is known for his forward thinking approach to image-making, and is considered a pioneer both for his innovative tilt-shift and aerial photography and in the field of HD-capable DSLR cameras.

BAFTA nominated filmmaker Philip Bloom will also participate in a “Meet the Experts” session, where he will discuss his latest work on productions for Discovery Channel, Living and Sky One. Bloom has spent the last three years embracing the 35mm film adaptor market, shooting on HD video, but making it look close to 35mm film.

New York based cinematographer/director Michael Huss will also speak, focusing on the new capabilities available to filmmakers, particularly in lighting choices.

Also appearing as guest speakers are Buck McNeely, producer and host of The Outdoorsman, and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Bill Frakes. The live event will close on Thursday, April 14, with a special one-off discussion with Litepanels’ co-founder Ken Fisher.

The live event will be held at the Vitec Group booth (C6428) in the Central Hall.
