IBC 2012: XenData brings archiving solutions to Amsterdam

WALNUT CREEK, CA — XenData (www.xendata.com) is showing a range of digital video archiving solutions at this year’s IBC show. A XenData SX-500 archive server will be managing an expandable Qualstar RLS-8500 LTO library to create a highly scalable network attached storage (NAS) device, where files are written to LTO cartridges and disk. The RLS-8500 starts at 81TB of near-line LTO capacity and can scale to 711TB.

The company partnered with Object Matrix to create an end-to-end solution that will enable customers to automate and move content seamlessly from near-line disk to LTO tape. The combined solution integrates MatrixStore near-line disk storage and any LTO archive server running XenData6 Server software, including the XenData SX-10 Archive Appliance and the XenData SX-500 Series of archive servers.

XenData’s SX-10 connects to 1 GigE networks and manages tape libraries that hold up to 50 LTO cartridges. At IBC, it’s being shown managing an HP 36TB LTO library and a Spectralogic T50e 75TB library. The company’s X1500 video archive system is also at IBC, offering a cost effective LTO-5 solution that allows user to easily drag and drop files and folders to a tape drive using Windows Explorer on a Windows 7 workstation.
