Corning offers all-optical Thunderbolt cables via BestBuy.com

CORNING, NY — Corning Incorporated (www.corning.com) is now offering its Thunderbolt optical cables through the Best Buy Website (www.bestbuy.com). Thunderbolt Optical Cables by Corning are electrically isolated, noise-reducing cables that are up to 50 percent thinner and up to 80 percent lighter than comparable copper cables, with substantially increased strength and flexibility.

The all-optical cables are available in four lengths (200-, 100-, 33- and 18-foot) and have undergone a rigorous certification. The cables enable connectivity between self-powered devices at 10 Gb/s bi-directional, dual channel with Thunderbolt, or 20 Gb/s bi-directional, when used with a Thunderbolt 2 host and Thunderbolt 2 devices. Additionally, the cables are hot swappable and feature an ultra-slim, “zero-bend” radius that allows users to easily route them.

“We created Thunderbolt Optical Cables by Corning to give consumers and professionals a way to connect computers and devices at incredible speeds and over longer distances,” explains Bernhard Deutsch, VP, product line management, optical connectivity solutions for Corning Optical Communications. “BestBuy.com’s tech-savvy customers will appreciate how thin and light the cables are, while knowing Thunderbolt Optical Cables by Corning are tough enough to endure bending, squeezing, and tangling.”

Pricing for the line of cables is as follows: 200-foot, $1299.99; 100-foot, $659.99; 33-foot, $299.99; and 18-foot, $179.99.
