Augustus Color using WCPMedia's cloud platform on Black Butterfly

ROME, ITALY — Augustus Color is using the cloud to post Black Butterfly, Paradox Studios’ upcoming psychological thriller. The studio has employed WCPMedia’s (www.wcpmediaservices.com) media management platform to deliver dailies to the film’s editorial team in Spain and screen dailies, in a WCP generated lower bandwidth version, for production partners around the globe.

“WCPMedia streamlines the production workflow by reducing transfer times compared with standard courier delivery—and does so securely,” says Augusto Pelliccia, general manager and founder of Augustus Color. “The Screening Room provides our customers with a beautiful collaboration tool to review content and work as a team in realtime from any location with no need for physical media to be delivered to the editor or the production supervisors.”

A remake of the French film Papillion Noir, Black Butterfly is directed Brian Goodman (What Doesn’t Kill You) and features an international cast led by Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Filming spanned seven weeks in Rome and the Monti Simbruini region of Italy.

WCPMedia’s cloud solution is a platform for storing, managing, transcoding, viewing and distributing media files quickly and securely. It provides dedicated workflows and functionalities to support the full media life cycle from production and post production to marketing, promotion and distribution.

For Black Butterfly, Augustus Color used the platform to upload dailies and other production media to secure servers, where they became almost instantly available to editors working in Spain. Dailies media also became accessible to producers and other stakeholders via the platform’s password-controlled Virtual Screening Room feature.

“The ability to immediately access media assets from anywhere in the world is a huge benefit for geographically-distributed productions like Black Butterfly,” says Pelliccia. “With WCPMedia, all of your content is in one place and you have the ability to share assets and make comments. It gives you the power of a true media asset management system. It’s the perfect tool for modern film production.”
