SoundEffects.com launches

DETROIT — Sound designer/recordist/author Ric Viers has launched SoundEffects.com, a new Website that features sound effects content from publishers and independent sound effects producers from around the world. Viers, who authored “The Sound Effects Bible,” and records his own libraries, including the recently-released “Haunted FX” collection, launched the site with the goal of helping the next generation sound effects producers share their work.

The site offers sound effects, loops, and royalty-free music via single, volume and subscription options. SoundEffects.com will also feature articles, tips and videos, as well as a platform for sound effects producers to distribute their own sound effects.

Viers’ Blastwave FX released the “Haunted FX” horror-themed library last fall. The collection contains 666 effects and is priced at $99. More than 10 hours of content is included, with effects that can be used to create spooky ambiences, ghosts, witches, graveyards and other things that go bump in the night. The creation of the library was documented during Season 5 of The Detroit Chop Shop Video Diaries, a Web show about Viers and the interns at his studio.
