NEW YORK CITY — Filmmaker U is a new online training series created by Gordon Burkell (AOTG.com) and Manhattan Edit Workshop (Josh Apter and Jason Banke). Unlike many courses that focus on how to use and operate an editing application, Filmmaker U takes students inside the studio and into the mind of each instructor.
The course is not based around specific applications or equipment. And priced at just $99, the series is affordable to both students and working individuals.
The “Master Film Editing with Brian Kates, ACE" workshop spans approximately 10 chapters and looks at working with footage, music, VFX and changes. Kates has worked on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Shortbus, and Lee Daniels' The Butler, and has won two Emmys. Other courses look at sound design, mastering and color grading.
