Music Video: Whisky Jenning Bryan — All We Need

LOS ANGELES — Whisky Jennings Bryan recently released a new music video for the track All We Need. The video is designed to reflect the uptempo, light and bright nature of the track, which is partly about consumerism and the idea that one thing can fix everything and make the listener feel okay, if only temporarily.

The project has a home-made aesthetic, with hand-painted cards dropping into place - one on top of the other - as the song unfolds. The visuals coincide with the song’s lyrics and were hand painted by artist Jessie Nagel over the course of several hours and then arranged by Whisky for the shoot.

The sequence was shot in 4K by Whisky using an Apple iPhone mounted to a c-stand with a mic clip in order to maintain the correct angle. An Apple iWatch was used to trigger the video recording and monitor the image while shooting. The lighting was provided via a soft box key with a white bounce card for fill. The table that the cards drop onto was covered in a matte photo rag paper.

The 4K footage was loaded into Final Cut Pro and color corrected by Whisky, with audio then added. At one point, the table used for the shoot got bumped, causing it to wobble. Using a stabilizer with FCP allowed Whisky to correct the problem. In addition, footage was pushed in 108 percent for tighter framing.
