Chinwe Chong promoted to editor at Consulate

NEW YORK CITY — Integrated creative studio Consulate (http://consulatenyc.com) has promoted Chinwe Chong to editor, following her recent work for AwakeNY clothing brand. New York City-born, Chong spent her formative years between Boulder, CO, Paris, France and Brooklyn, NY. She joined Consulate in 2011 and has worked her way up the ranks, first spending a year as a receptionist, then moving to client services, followed by night apprentice and then on to an assistant editor.

She was most recently creative director and editor on An Ode for AwakeNY. Concepted and crafted in the wake of the deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, the short film highlights the importance of paying homage to the many African American and Black women of the world who have helped to pave the way for inclusivity and equality.

“It’s observing slight nuances — gestures that, though small or seemingly insignificant, feel most human,” Chong says of her editing style. “Finding and connecting these moments are what I love about editing. The last decade at Consulate has been one of pure growth for me. I’m forever in awe of the talent around me, it’s inspiring, and I’m thrilled to embark on this next phase of my creative journey.”
