Johannes Sambs promoted to head of CG at Framestore

LONDON — Framestore (www.framestore.com) has promoted Johannes Sambs to head of CG, London, where he will lead the CG team on a range of projects across advertising, episodic and immersive. Sambs joined Framestore in 2016 and has been instrumental in a number of major projects, including Framestore’s first dark ride, Pearl Quest, for China’s Wanda Group, as well as the technically challenging immersive experience for Comcast’s Philadelphia-based, planetarium-style theatre, the Universal Sphere. He was also Framestore’s CG supervisor on Netflix’sAlien Worlds, which won an Emmy award for the studio.

“Johannes has experienced the full range of work across the division, and brings an understanding of the creative and technical challenges our teams face day to day,” says Lottie Cooper, managing director, Advertising, TV & Immersive. “With his broad range of experience, I am excited about him leading the CG team into the next era.”

“I am delighted to embark on this journey as Head of CG,” adds Sambs. “Framestore partners with world-renowned brands and creative studios, and the spectrum of the projects we can work on is limitless. I am excited to lead our talented team as we take on even more challenging, ambitious and fresh projects this year and beyond.”

Originally from Austria, Sambs studied Audiovisual Fine Art before moving to the UK, where he worked as a CG generalist freelancer, mainly in advertising, as well as theatre production. He joined Framestore as a lookdev artist and has subsequently worked as both CG supervisor and VFX supervisor.
