VFX studio Milk acquires Lola Post Production

LONDON — VFX studio Milk (www.milk-vfx.com) has acquired fellow VFX studio Lola Post Production. The combined capacity of the two studios will be over 300, representing a significant creative platform with the ability to create a full range of innovative visual effects for the premium film and television markets.

Lola and its entire Soho based team will join the Milk VFX family while remaining as a separate, distinct studio. Lola has had its most successful year to date, completing work on the VFX BAFTA nominated Universe (BBC); Dangerous Liaisons (Starz/Lionsgate); and Dinosaurs: The Final Day with David Attenborough (BBC). The studio will continue to focus on creating award-winning visual effects for factual as well as drama productions.

Rob Harvey, Lola’s Oscar-winning founder and creative director, has been at the helm of the studio’s creative output since its formation in 2000. He will continue to lead the Lola team as creative director and VFX supervisor, and will work closely alongside Milk’s board and senior leadership team.

Milk has built a strong platform for growth in its busiest year to date. The company moved into a new studio in London’s Clerkenwell, and delivered shots for a range of feature and episodic projects, including Sony’s The Woman King and the upcoming feature The Swimmers (Netflix). Milk is currently in production on the second series of Good Omens (Amazon/BBC) and the eight-part NBC series Surviving Earth (NBC/Loud Minds).

“We are thrilled to welcome Rob and the Lola team to the Milk family,” states Jag Mundi, Milk executive chairman. “This enables us to expand our scale and capabilities both creatively and commercially. Bringing Rob and the Lola team’s award-winning expertise and reputation, especially in the factual market, into one group with a shared vision, positions us well to help our clients bring their projects to life.”

“We’re excited to join forces with Milk - it's a great fit,” adds Harvey. “I have known the senior team there for many years and through collaborations on a few projects. We’ve found that we share similar approaches to visual effects work.”

Sara Bennett, Milk co-owner and VFX supervisor adds, “We’re delighted to be welcoming the Lola team to our growing Milk family. This is an exciting time for us all as we begin to work in unison and collectively extend our range of capabilities and capacity and grow and nurture our talented teams and culture.”
