NAB 2023: SMPTE panels to look at 'remote collaboration' and 'cloud workflows'

HOLLYWOOD — At the NAB Show in Las Vegas this month, SMPTE Hollywood (smpte.org) will host two Floor Sessions in the Connect Experiential Zone.

The “Remote Collaborations” session will look at color grading in the cloud, and will feature AWS’s Marlon Campos, Colorist Society (CSI) fellow Lou Levinson and Filmlight’s Peter Postma. The group will look at the advent of remote work in post production color, and will discuss the latest technologies that are enabling colorists to overcome challenges such as image quality, security, latency and other technical issues. They will also contrast the benefits of pure-cloud, hybrid and brick-and-mortar workflows. The session is set for Sunday, April 16th at 1:00pm in the Connect Inspiration Theatre (West Hall 3421A).

The “Production & Post in the Multi-Cloud Universe” session will bring together Microsoft’s Andy Beach, Google Cloud’s Buzz Hays, AWS’s Katrina King and MTI Film’s Victor Vaile, who will explore the range of cloud workflow solutions that have arisen in recent years via hyper-scalers, SaaS offerings and private clouds. They will offer insight into the impact of AI-driven technologies, global connectivity, cloud processing and content delivery networks, and describe how post production providers can benefit from the unlimited applications, computing power and storage resources available through the cloud. The session is set for Monday, April 17th at 10:30am in the Connect Inspiration Theatre, (West Hall 3421A).
