Yep Hill promoted at Alkemy X

LOS ANGELES — Alkemy X (www.alkemy-x.com), which specializes in visual effects, production, editorial, design and creative development, has promoted Jep Hill to executive creative director, VFX. Hill joined the company in 2021 as VFX creative director and head of imaging, and has over 25 years of visual effects experience. In his new role, he will provide creative and logistical oversight of the VFX department, including client relationship management, talent management and development, along with quality assurance across all of Alkemy X’s VFX output.

Some of Hill’s past credits include contributions to Armageddon, The Polar Express, The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers, Mighty Joe Young, The Giver and Spiderman: Homecoming. He built the foundation of his career by creating and supervising visual effects at many well-known studios in Los Angeles. In 2007, he moved to New York City to grow the visual effects division of a post production studio as its VFX supervisor, and in 2010, he opened his own consulting group, which specialized in VFX software integration, custom pipeline implementation, workflow optimization and education. In 2012, Hill took a role as head of CG at the New York City office of a global VFX shop, where he built the team and facility capabilities that eventually led to the company’s acquisition. Later he made his way back West, taking on the role of digital effects supervisor in Vancouver, Canada, before joining ILM to serve as a CG supervisor and incorporate emerging technologies into their imaging and color workflows.

Alkemy X’s visual effects division is seeing steady growth. The company made a number of new hires and opened new office space in the Los Angeles area with a deliberate focus on advanced technology to support the ever-evolving VFX industry.
