Invincible: Director Vincent Rene-Lortie’s live-action short

Director Vincent Rene-Lortie’s Invincible is nominated for an Oscar in the Best Live Action Short Film category. The short is based on the true story of Marc-Antoine Bernier, a 14-year-old boy and his quest for eternal freedom. The film looks at the subject of mental health and how it needs to be spoken about more freely in order for the world to truly understand the level of suffering a person goes through. Invincible recounts the last 48 hours in the life of the 14-year old.

"It's a profound wave of emotion and pride that we're experiencing today,” says Rene-Lortie and producer Samuel Caron. “We could never have hoped that one day our film would be nominated for an Oscar. This is a childhood dream coming true, and we feel fortunate to have been chosen by the Academy among all the excellent films this year. And above all, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the film since its beginnings."
