Adobe brings Premiere editing to iPhone

SAN JOSE, CA - Adobe (adobe.com) made several announcements leading up to IBC2025 taking place in Amsterdam from September 12th to 15th. The company will release an iPhone version of its Premiere editing solution later this month, with an Android version also in development. The app is currently available for pre-order and will be free once it's released.

Premiere on iPhone is designed for mobile content creation, combining pro-quality tools, studio-grade audio and many of the assets creators need to make high-quality video content. Adobe also announced that it will "retire" Premiere Rush, and end technical support one year from now.

Premiere on iPhone will be familiar to those who have used Premiere’s desktop experience. Users will recognize the multi-track timeline, with its vibrant colors and dynamic audio waveforms. They will have the ability to trim, layer and fine-tune media with frame-accurate precision. Additional features include automatic captions with stylized subtitles; unlimited video, audio and text layers; and support for 4K HDR.

The app allows users to begin a project on their mobile system and finish on their desktop. Mobile users can instantly export content to TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Instagram with one tap, and the app can automatically resize video for each platform, keeping the main action in-frame.

Creative assets include millions of stickers, images, fonts and music. And Adobe Firefly is built-in, letting users generate unique visuals through generative AI. Voice and text can be used to generate sound effects, and the Enhance Speech feature helps combat noisy environments. In addition to the app being free, there are no ads or watermarks. Users only pay for generative credits or cloud storage.
