Bitpress helps BBC Studios analyze massive media asset library

DENVER, CO - Bitpress, which uses intelligent automation, machine learning and cloud scale to quickly analyze content for monetization, recently spent two weeks analyzing over 90,000 media assets for BBC Studios. BBC Studios is the main commercial arm of BBC Commercial Ltd. The assets spanned decades, and Bitpress’ intelligent catalog analysis revealed 38 detailed data points per asset, as well as identified inaccuracies in existing metadata and video mastering.

BBC Studios' vast catalog included decades of broadcast TV content in multiple aspect ratios and varying specs. Many of these assets were created using legacy formats and inconsistent standards, making it difficult to catalog, optimize or monetize effectively. Leveraging VideoPress and its new intelligent catalog analysis offered detailed insight into color atoms, audio tracks, sound fields, frame rates, aspect ratios, ad breaks, resolution and format specifications. The automated process identified metadata inconsistencies and flagged assets requiring manual QA or reformatting. With this newfound visibility, BBC Studios can optimize or preserve assets with confidence, as well as accelerating their ability to bring content to market.

“Bitpress' automation capabilities have redefined how media companies manage and monetize their libraries,” explains founding partner Morgan Holly. “Our platform enables large-scale content analysis and normalization in record time, delivering valuable insights that would take months with traditional methods. We’re proud to help BBC Studios maximize the potential of their archive.”
