Display pioneer Martin Euredjian joins Atomos

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - Atomos (www.atomos.com) recently welcomed industry innovator Martin Euredjian to the company as director of advanced imaging. Atomos designs and manufactures a range of monitor/recorders, including the Ninja and Shogun series. Euredjian will lead innovation for advanced display technology at Atomos, and has agreed to bring his wealth of experience, expertise and the intellectual property he developed at eCinema to Atomos to create its next generation of reference-grade monitors and calibration solutions.

As CRT displays were being phased out in the early 2000s, and flat panel technology was found to be inferior, Euredjian pioneered two new technologies for reference monitors: locally dimmed LED backlights (now known as FALD backlights) and dual-layer LCD technology. At eCinema Systems, he introduced the DPX monitor series, a dual-layer LCD mastering-grade monitor. These innovations set a new benchmark for high-contrast, highly-accurate displays, and paved the way for a new generation of professional display solutions.

“Martin’s track record of invention and innovation speaks for itself,” says Peter Barber, CEO of Atomos. “I have known Martin for more than 20 years and was deeply impressed when I first saw the groundbreaking technology he was delivering at eCinema. His pioneering work not only drove the transition from CRT to LCD monitoring, but has influenced many of the displays that professionals use today. The wealth of experience he brings strengthens Atomos as we expand our engineering capabilities and broaden our product portfolio. We are already recognized as best-in-class for on-set monitoring, and with Martin’s vision and technology we will extend that leadership to desktop and studio monitoring, creating seamless workflows from set to studio to cloud.”
