Editor Jacob Schulsinger brings leadership style to MakeMake

LOS ANGELES - MakeMake (https://makemake.com), the interdisciplinary studio that works in advertising and entertainment, has added award-winning editor and creative producer Jacob Schulsinger to its team. He brings a hands-on, artist-first approach, which he'll use to inspire and support the studio's roster of hundreds of creatives.

Schulsinger began his career editing short fiction and documentaries that earned recognition at Cannes, Sundance, the European Film Awards and IDFA. Since then, he’s collaborated on culturally-significant films and series across genres. His credits include the Cannes-winning The Square; Triangle of Sadness; and the upcoming Bart Layton feature Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry.

“I think everyone should be confident in their voice and bring their full selves into the process — and life in general,” says Schulsinger. “I’m happy if I can help even one person shift their attention away from external motivators and fears toward something more true, honest and authentic to who they are. MakeMake’s combination of top-tier craftsmanship and leadership deeply aligns with my values. I sensed a genuine ambition to improve the world, not just for people, but for all life. I can’t think of a better North Star.”

Schulsinger’s leadership style is an extension of his commitment to nurturing talent through his many years as an advisor at the Sundance Labs. As an editor, he’s known for his authenticity, precision and restraint, believing limitations sharpen creativity and ensuring stories carry only the most honest, evocative elements.

Schulsinger recently edited Nia DaCosta’s Hedda, an adaptation of the Ibsen classic. Additional credits include co-editing Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac: Vol 1 & 2, editing The House That Jack Built, and editing the third season of The Kingdom.
