Modern Post's William Town cuts Tate McRae's VMA-winner Just Keep Watching

William Town was honored with the “Best Editing” award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards for his work on Tate McRae’s Just Keep Watching. The track is from the feature film F1 The Movie, and also earned the VMA for "Song of the Summer."

Town, who is the founder of bi-coastal creative post studio Modern Post (https://modernpost.com), cut Just Keep Watching in Adobe Premiere.

“We began the edit in early May and delivered on May 29th,” he recalls. “Before kicking off the edit, we worked with Anonymous Content to coordinate the footage hand off with Warner Bros. to get access to and clearance for the F1 footage from the film that we’d be using in our edit. (Director) Bardia (Zeinali) and I have worked together many times, so we had a comfortable workflow with this one as well, including several in-person sessions. Throughout that time, Tate was still finalizing the song, so we had to make some adjustments along the way after receiving updated lyrics.”

Town had an in-person editing session with McRae on May 21st, where they locked the final edit.

“From there, we worked with Ethos to kick off the grade, and a few days later connected with White Rhino/Hush VFX for them to do the VFX and beauty work,” he recalls.

Once that was complete, the team received the shots back and delivered the final conform on May 29th, with the video going live at midnight.

Town has worked on many high-profile music videos in the past, including releases for M.I.A., Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, Doja Cat and Charli XCX. He also edited Mugler’s Alien Hypersense, and recently cut the lead single Jealous Type from Doja Cat’s upcoming album "Vie."

The MTA VMAs were held in New York on September 7th.
