Music Video: Harmony - Apple Pie

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Harmony recently shared the new video for her single “Apple Pie.” The project was directed by Amalia Irons (www.amaliairons.com) and finds the artist at several LA locations, including the Toi Thai Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard, where she basks in its multi-colored lighting, and on a street in the Hollywood Hills, where she performs in front of the city's sparkling backdrop.

According to the director, the video was shot on the night of a full moon, with Irons handling camera work and Max Harper providing additional lighting.

"We started by discovering a random hill off Mulholland that had just enough of an incline that we could see the glimmering city of Los Angeles at eye level with Harmony," Irons recalls. "This laid the groundwork for magic. After hours we moved to Toi, the rock 'n' roll Thai restaurant on Sunset, which has been a staple in my and Harmony's upbringing. Having grown up together, Harmony and my collaborations often fall (into) the realm of improvisation and discovery. There’s a deep sense of trust between us.”

Irons captured imagery using a Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. The video was edited and color graded in DaVinci Resolve.

"Because I edited and colored it myself, I actually start with coloring, just to create a palette that I like before diving into the cut," Irons shares. "I think the way footage is colored really helps to dictate what shots function best at certain moments. Editing in DaVinci also really helps this workflow for me, as it is 'the' coloring software. Even if I’m giving my cut to someone else to color, I will always give them a base palette to refer to because I enjoy this workflow."

The video’s title cards were created by Guy Person.
