DETROIT – Editorial boutique Cutters (www.cutters.com) has promoted Ray Straight to editor. Soon after graduating from the television production program at the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts (now part of Lawrence Technological University), Straight landed in the shipping and library department of Detroit’s General Television Network (GTN). From there, his multifaceted role as assistant editor continued to expand as the company’s creative editorial operation became RingSide Creative, and then Cutters Detroit.
As an assistant editor, Straight worked on major campaigns for every automotive brand in Detroit, including many with GTB for Ford. His expertise grew through extended engagement with SC Johnson, for which he edited high-profile social media videos. Other credits include Lafayette American’s extensive campaign work for Mazda.
“Ray is incredibly thoughtful and passionate about what he does, and he brings a genuine sense of care to every project," says Cutters Detroit executive producer Christina Anderson. "His work speaks for itself, and clients keep coming back to collaborate with him again and again. For all of us at Cutters Detroit, we are very excited for more people to see the talent and heart he brings to the table.”
“Being promoted to editor actualizes the feeling I had the very first time I sat down at an editing station - a desire to turn a creative vision into reality,” says Straight. “While my talent to do so will continue to grow, that very fundamental urge to share my personal perspective has remained constant.”
