OXFORD UK – Motion capture developer Vicon (www.vicon.com) has launched Active Crown, a purpose-built solution for virtual production camera tracking. Vicon Active Crown transforms unreliable tracking into dependable motion data by minimizing interference. The results give virtual-production professionals flexible, reliable tracking for cameras positioned anywhere on in-camera visual effects (ICVFX) stages. Active Crown’s design focuses on occlusion, a common pain point across virtual-production stages. It can also support tracking of multiple cameras across the same studio set.
“Active Crown is an important and timely addition to our product portfolio, as virtual production is seeing major growth and revolutionizing the entertainment industry,” says David 'Ed’ Edwards, VFX product manager of Vicon. “This product underscores our commitment to providing technologies that enhance the virtual production workflow. In a market where precision and reliability are so critical, Active Crown helps creators push the boundaries of visual storytelling in a way we’ve not seen before.”
The announcement follows Vicon's recent launch of a markerless motion-capture solution back in March.
