BURBANK, CA - Remoto (remotopro.io) has updated its professional remote review platform for media teams of all sizes. The latest Playback release includes Remoto Capture Agent, a new companion application that enables hosts to stream from remote machines while managing review sessions from a local computer. This capability allows organizations to keep media on secure studio workstations while maintaining the flexibility to launch and control review sessions remotely.
Remoto Capture Agent runs as a MacOS system tray application and can be installed by authorized machine room technicians or rental houses before edit systems are deployed. During session setup, organizers select the desired agent and authenticate access through Playback, enabling remote control of streaming without requiring direct access to the workstation hosting the media.
The new Playback release also supports Windows PCs, bringing the platform’s frame-accurate streaming and live conferencing capabilities to teams working across mixed operating environments. In addition, Playback version 1.9 adds compatibility with Apple’s Tahoe operating system.
Unlike review and approval platforms built around subscriptions or contracts, Playback offers multiple options to accommodate freelance editors, post houses and major studios. Users can purchase single on-demand sessions or pre-paid time bundles with a credit card. Companies can customize usage-based billing plans that handle concurrent sessions across multiple hosts or deploy fixed-priced unlimited rooms for predictable budgeting.
Since Playback is designed for a wide range of use cases, participants may join from a range of devices. Setup is also fast and a new "reuse" button on the dashboard lets organizers clone settings and guest lists from previous sessions. Remoto is developing advanced enterprise security capabilities and expanded support for HDR workflows. These features are expected to be released before the end of summer.
