SHINING TECHNOLOGY SHIPS HDV STORAGE SOLUTION

LOS ANGELES - Pros shooting on HDV or DV formats and looking to quickly transfer their material to an NLE for editing might want to check out Shining Technology's (www.shining.com) CitiDisk for HDV, a high-capacity storage peripheral that's small enough to mount on a camcorder or fit in a DP's pocket.

CitiDisk weighs just 10 ounces and connects to a camera via a FireWire cable. The laptop computer-grade hard drive is available in 80GB, 100GB or 120GB capacities and features internal shock absorbing cushioning all around for maximum hard drive protection.
Users can record video at continuous speeds of up to 12MB per second. In addition, the sustained device transfer rate is four times faster than recording speed. Depending on the selected video resolution, CitiDisk for HDV can store between 1.5 and 7.5 hours of DV or HDV footage.

The unit automatically detects incoming MiniDV/DVCam/DVCPRO (DV or DV25), DVCPRO 50 or HDV stream formats and 2-channel/16-bit/48kHz; 2-channel/16-bit/44.1kHz; or 4-channel/12-bit/32kHz audio sampling rates, and provides record/playback in either format. A convenient one-touch Quick Erase button provides instant file system cleaning to free up hard disk space.

Pricing is 879.00 for the 80GB unit; $949 for the 100GB unit and $1,049 for the 120GB unit.
