AMSTERDAM – At the IBC show, here, EditShare
(www.editshare.com) is demonstrating Version 5.0 of its file sharing workflow
solution. The latest version includes an enhanced file management structure
that greatly simplifies file sharing workflow and media maintenance, particularly
for Avid users. A new synchronization tool enables media back ups on a second
EditShare server as well as dual location media housing. And Serial Attached
SCSI (SAS) integration has been added for optimizing productivity and increased
throughput.
Also new is support for Apple’s Final Cut Pro, expanding the
tool beyond that of an Avid-only workflow. The EditShare Apple FCP Project
Sharing feature allows multiple FCP editors to simultaneously open up and work
from the same projects. Project Sharing is seamless, eliminating the time
consuming exporting and importing of XML files and duplication of FCP project
files. New iSCSI support allows customers to simultaneously have the advantages
of both a SAN and a NAS, giving them the simplicity and power of a file-level
sharing NAS as well as benefit from the block-level SAN-type connectivity
required for applications such as Digidesign’s Pro Tools and Avid Nitris DS
systems.
EditShare is also showing EditShare Field at IBC. The
release incorporates all of the features and functionality of the flagship
EditShare product, packaged it into a portable, rugged chassis.
