SECAUCUS, NJ — MLB Network debuted a new promo on Monday night during its Hot Stove program. The :45 video promotes the network’s coverage of “all things baseball” and features 73 current and former MLB greats gathered in the broadcaster’s Studio 42. Graphics artists at MLB Network worked with Big Studios to rotoscope more than 5,100 frames, pulling out the players from archive footage and bringing the different generations together. Greats from the past, including Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, and Yogi Berra, intermingle with modern-day All Stars such as Ken Griffey Jr., Chipper Jones and Ichiro Suzuki. The studio used Autodesk Smoke and Flame for compositing.
