Poland's Pay upgrades Pablo, takes on 3D feature
June 14, 2011

WARSAW, POLAND — Pay Studio (www.pay.compl ) has upgraded its Quantel Pablo with 4K, Stereo 3D and the Neo panel. The system is currently being used to finish one of Poland’s first major 3D movies, Battle of Warsaw.

Pay’s Pablo has been a part of the studio’s workflow for several years now, where it’s been employed on commercials, TV series and movies for the Polish market.

“Upgrading the system to 4K and Stereo 3D operation means that we can carry out the highest quality digital intermediates and color correction for 2D movies,” explains Monika Jakutowicz, Pay Studio’s colorist and 3D artist. “It also enables us to break into the exciting new 3D movie business, as our work on Jerzy Hoffman’s Battle of Warsaw illustrates — we did the entire color correction and stereo 3D post on the Pablo, as well as the titles.”

Jakutowicz adds that Pablo’s ability to grade left and right eyes in parallel is particularly useful, as are its stereo balancing and fixing tools.
