ARRI SHOWING SPEED UPGRADE FOR FILM SCANNER

LAS VEGAS – Munich, Germany’s Arri is showing a speed upgrade to its Arriscan film scanner at this year’s NAB show. The company is demonstrating a scanning speed of three frames per second for native 3K scanning with no compromises in image quality.

The native 3K origination modes allows for high resolution over sampling of the commonly used 2K format. In addition to faster scanning, an accelerated winding mode is also being shown.

Arriscan launched in 2004 and has been installed in more than 25 facilities to date. Units can be upgraded to the Arriscan Speed model by exchanging the host PC plus adding a new electronics board. The upgrade will include 3K to 2K and 6K scanning speed.

Arri will also show the CMS color management system for its Arrilaster film recorder at NAB. When working with linear data, the CMS is a software option in the Arrilaser image processor that adjusts the image data while recording.
