Belgian pop artist Angèle recently released her new single “What You Want,” which was crafted alongside the French electronic powerhouse duo Justice (Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé). The song is accompanied by a music video from production company (LA)Horde (www.collectiflahorde.com), which is made up of a creative trio.
Angèle's collaboration with Justice began in December 2024, when she attended a show in Brussels and met them backstage, later inviting them to her studio, where she played them a song she hadn't fully completed.
She told them, “Do what you want with it,” and they transformed it into “What You Want,” which was released on Angèle VL Records/Because Music.
The music video, which debuted on February 27th, was filmed in the dead of night on an Apple iPhone 17 Pro in the streets of Marseille. The shoot took place between a laundromat, a grocery store and a bar, and is presented in a cinematic format, with dancer Nora Monsecour chasing after Angèle.
The film was envisioned to be an uninterrupted nighttime walk, where Angèle approaches each place as a territory to be transformed. The choreography structures the narrative, and the camera faces her, accompanies her and creates tension. The film evolves into a contemporary fable, on the border between reality and surrealism, echoing her artistic journey and a nod to the public exposure of her intimacy.
