IBC: AJA improves Kona, adds DNxHD support to Ki Pro Mini

AMSTERDAM — AJA Video Systems (www.aja.com) is at the IBC show with the next-generation of its Kona LHe video capture and playback solution. The Kona LHe Plus offers greater performance than its predecessor and is priced approximately 25 percent lower.

Professional features include: 10-bit or 8-bit uncompressed video I/O; two-channel AES digital audio and eight-channel SDI embedded digital audio I/O; analog composite, S-video, SD/HD component video I/O; two-channel balanced analog audio I/O; and 10-bit quality hardware down-conversion from HD to SD.

AJA’s OS X and Windows software and application integration is included. The solution is also fully extensible via an optional 1RU breakout box. AJA plans to ship the Kona LHe Plus in October for $995.

Also at IBC, AJA is showing its Ki Pro family of portable video recorders, including the most recent addition, the Ki Pro Mini. The company has been working with Avid to build support for its DNxHD video codec. The low bandwidth DNxHD codec allows editing to begin more quickly, easing workflows in film, television and live productions. AJA will offer DNxHD support as a free upgrade for all Ki Pro Mini owners in Q4. The Ki Pro Mini is priced at $1,995.
