SMPTE Webinar to look at resuming production in NYC

NEW YORK CITY — The Society of Motion Pictures & Television Engineers will present a Zoom Webinar at 6pm EST today to discuss how to reopen filming in New York City. The Webinar is open to anyone in the industry, and will feature panelists that include Alan Suna (HBO's Sex & The City and Succession, and Netflix's The Politician) and Joseph Reidy ( Casino, The Departed, Black Swan).

As of July 20, under Phase 4 reopening, NYC film and TV production resumes with full crews but facilities at 50 percent capacity. The panel will look at how COVID-19 will continue to impact production? Will production be the same as before? What are the new safety protocols? And what will the future landscape of New York area production look like?

In addition to Suna and Reidy, the panel will include the following:
Dejan Georgevich ASC, National Vice President, IATSE Local 600
Andy Shipsides, President, ARRI Rental North America Camera
Peter Abel, CEO & Co-Founder, AbelCine
Matt Miller, President/CEO, Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP)
Mary Rae Thewlis, National Vice President, DGA

David Leitner, director/cinematographer, Motion Picture Chair of SMPTE-NY, will moderate the event.
