RIOT ATLANTA COMPLETES EXPANSION, SUPPORTS HD

ATLANTA - Riot Atlanta, here, has completed a major expansion and reconstruction effort that includes the implementation of an infrastructure designed to support high definition, editorial, visual effects and finishing. The project increases Riot Atlanta?s overall space by more than 50 percent. Currently, the facility has five Avid suites (with Unity), one Avid Nitris DS, two Smoke systems, one Flame and a design studio. The studio upgraded its audio post capabilities with three new 5.1 mixing suites, equipped with Fairlight DREAM Constellation consoles and MSoft's server-based music and sound effects storage system.

While Riot Atlanta (www.riotatlanta.com), an Ascent Media company, does not currently offer telecine services, the studio has become a host site for Ascent Media's UP Satellite service, which provides remote, realtime, color calibrated telecine sessions with colorists at Riot Santa Monica, Company 3 (Santa Monica and New York) and Encore Hollywood.

Matthew Kennedy of Kennedy Associates, Atlanta, served as project architect for Riot's expansion. Freese Construction was the general contractor. Interior design is by Walter Mazzanti of Abitato Design. Design for the audio suites is being handled by Bret Thoeny of Boto Design. Systems integration services are being supplied by Ascent Media Systems and Technology Services.

The new space leaves room for future expansion.
