TEATOWN POSTS AD COUNCIL TRIBUTE

NEW YORK - Mark Oberthaler, senior editor at Avid-based editing house Teatown Communications Group, recently completed work on a seven-minute compilation video for the Ad Council. The presentation was shown at a Public Service Awards Dinner in New York and consists of clips from 60 years worth of Public Service Announcements produced by the Ad Council.

Oberthaler was presented with more than 15 hours of classic PSAs. He was challenged with not only extracting the most compelling scenes, but with also cutting them together in an entertaining and meaningful way. While sound bites were sprinkled throughout, much of the production was cut to a carefully-edited soundtrack.

The tribute was produced by Skip Stuart, senior producer/ specials at NBC New York. Stuart and Oberthaler are long-time collaborators, having recently completed work on the "75th Anniversary of NBC," a six-minute chronology of NBC's contributions to broadcast television.

"Skip comes well-prepared with great ideas and footage, but then relies on me to find the common thread, which was particularly challenging on this project, given the breadth of subject matter that the Ad Council has covered," explains Oberthaler.

Teatown is home to multiple Avid Symphony and Media Composer systems for editorial work.
