MTI Film shows off AI features of Cortex and DRS Nova

HOLLYWOOD — At April's NAB Show, MTI Film (https://mtifilm.com) held live demonstrations of Cortex V.7.0 and DRS Nova V.7.0. Attendees got to learn about Cortex’s automated SDR-to-HDR pipeline, which leverages the MTai adaptive-processing framework to analyze SDR source material and generate a Dolby Vision Content Map, delivering a fully tone-mapped HDR master with minimal manual intervention.

Another highlight was Cortex’s new, AI-trained detection models, which include a slate detection feature capable of reading slates in challenging conditions. MTI Film showed its ability to read slates in dark conditions, upside-down and even through plastic bags. Cortex also offers precision cut detection and the ability to identify gamma ray radiation artifacts embedded in high dynamic range camera footage.

MTI Film’s DRS Nova highlights included the GPU-accelerated Shine, which is able to detect fine dirt and scratches with speed and accuracy.
The MTai FrameGen tool was well received too, thanks to its ability to convincingly reconstruct missing frames, thereby helping to restore severely damaged film sequences. Additional DRS Nova highlights include dual-timeline playback capability, which allows two clips to run simultaneously at different frame rates while painting between source and target.
