LOS ANGELES — Pacific Standard Sound (PSS) has launched Pacific Standard Creative (PSC), a new division that will serve the evolving storytelling and production needs of video game development studios, advertising agencies, trailer houses and independent productions.
PSS is an award-winning sound design and full-service post studio led by Will Files and Craig Henighan. Based in LA, the company has locations in Hollywood, Culver City and Burbank. Some of its credits include work on Stranger Things, Alien: Romulus and Predator: Badlands.
Pacific Standard Creative (https://pacificstandardcreative.com) will be helmed by Eric Marks (pictured), who brings more than a decade of audio and engineering leadership, as well as six years as a Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) board member. Marks will serve alongside Henighan and Files, and will oversee all day-to-day operations, strategy and client relationships, ensuring a focused, hands-on leadership model from day one.
"In games, sound is still the most underestimated storyteller in the room, and we see an opportunity to close the gap between the cutting-edge cinematic audio that Hollywood audiences expect, and the immersive, interactive experiences that players demand," says Marks. “Today is the result of bringing together elite industry talent with a shared belief that sound can fundamentally transform how interactive stories are experienced, all in the name of delivering the kind of immersive, world-class sound that defines the player experience."
Pacific Standard Creative will offer access to a deep pool of skilled sound designers, editors and mixers, as well as Hollywood-based theatrical and television mix stages. PSC is also positioned to assume a co-development posture with game development partners, working in-engine to support implementation and technical sound design from first build to final delivery.
"We've spent our careers pushing the boundaries of what sound can do for the art of storytelling in film and television, and it made perfect sense to partner with a veteran like Eric, and extend the vision for what Pacific Standard Sound can be," note Henighan and Files. "With Eric leading the charge and the incredible talent he's bringing with him, we are excited to deliver something genuinely special for a broader group of creatives across the industry."
