POSTWORKS FURTHER COMMITS TO DA VINCI TECHNOLOGY

NEW YORK – PostWorks, a full-service film and high definition post production facility that also offers production offices and equipment rentals, has upgraded two of its existing da Vinci 2K Plus image enhancement systems to the 2K Sapphire level, as well as purchased a third 2K Sapphire system to meet growing demand by feature film and television clients.

The facility is set up to handle large-scale feature film and television projects using traditional or digital intermediate workflows. Current PostWorks projects include the television shows "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," "Book of Daniel," "The Wire," and "Bedford Diaries," plus "The Hoax" and other feature films.

The three 2K Sapphire systems from da Vinci are integrated with Thomson Grass Valley post suites, including PostWorks' new Spirit 2K, the first in Manhattan. By purchasing three identical 2K Sapphire systems, the studio can exchange configurations, color lists, and toolset functions, ensuring that every project can be handled in any of the three rooms.

"The 2K Sapphire's Gallery streamlines my workflow by providing instant recollection of in-session stills in either SD or HD format, along with my color-correction parameters," says Ken Rubenfeld, a PostWorks colorist who has worked on da Vinci systems for nearly two decades. "And the addition of true gamma control, the smart ripple function, Defocus Plus, and the Colorist Toolbox2, along with six channels of traditional RGB or supervector/luminance qualification control, makes the 2K Sapphire an extremely powerful tool for me to achieve the looks I want."
