Marc Loftus

Marc Loftus is the Senior Editor and Director of Web Content for Post Magazine. He has been with the monthly publication since 1992, reporting on new technologies and creative techniques relating to film, television and commercial post production. In that time, he has witnessed the transition from linear to nonlinear, analog to digital, stereo to surround, SD to HD, tape-based to file-based, and 2D to 3D. Marc is a graduate of The New York Institute of Technology.

NAB POST|PRODUCTION WORLD OFFERING NLE TRAINING

LAS VEGAS - Editors looking to brush up on their skill or learn additional applications might want to attend this year's NAB Post|Production World Conference (www.nabshow.com), which returns to Las Vegas on April 21-27 for the third year. The event is the result of a collaboration between Future Media Concepts and the National Association of Broadcasters, and offers attendees the opportunity to sit in on any of 200 technical and business session, many of which focus on editing applications.

The two-hour discussion featured three panelists, all of whom are active in the animation industry and influential in the hiring process.

Back in September, this space looked at the NLE rental business, particularly two companies that were seeing success in New York. Well, the rental business is thriving elsewhere, too. Across the pond, for example, Peter Watson, director/manager of LEM Digital (London Editing Machines), says the 25-year-old company that services the London filmmaking community is also quite busy.
